Osgood smacks two homers in win over T's

Nevada News

There may come a time down the road this season that the sixth inning of Friday night's game against the Montana Mavericks proves to be beneficial for Tankers pitcher Steve Emry.

But almost two hours after serving up a three-run home run to Paul Osgood, the inning didn't set particularly well with the right-hander. Osgood's blast cost Emry a two-run lead and put the Mavericks ahead to stay in what became an 8-3 Montana win before 43,000 at PAGE Field.

"We are trying to get Emry extended some," explained manager Lance Pella on staying with the starter instead of going to the bullpen. "And the only way to do that is let him pitch. Osgood got a fastball to hit and he hit it."

Emry (0-1) agreed that he needs to build his arm strength.

"If I don't get stretched out now, I won't be able to go late into the game down the road," said Emry, who made his second start after coming off the 15-day disabled list. "I felt fine. I just made a bad pitch."

And Osgood gave it a long ride into the second deck in left field.

On this night, Osgood was a one-man offensive wrecking crew.

He had two home runs, two doubles and matched his career high with six RBIs, almost personally handing the Tankers only its seventh loss of the season in 29 games.

"He put on an absolute power display in batting practice and carried it right into the game," said Mavericks manager Bruce Hallinger. "Paul is a game-wrecker. There are certain guys who can take a game over...and tonight he put on a show."

Archeology

Archeology is the study of the human past. Its initial objective is the construction of cultural chronology. Its intermediate objective is the reconstruction of past lifeways. Its ultimate objective is the discovery of the processes which underlie and condition human behavior.

Archeology (and alternately Archaeology) is a science well suited for anyone who enjoys biology, botany, geology, chemistry, history, psychology, art, and solving a great puzzle. It is not looting and robbing. Various countries have enacted laws and regulations to ensure that their legacies are not exported or destroyed. There are acts which intend to repatriate looted legacies. In the United States of America, many state governments are sensitive to the need for archeological study and excavation when any development project -- state-sponsored or commercial -- uncovers evidence of historical human presence.

It is our hope that the web pages at this site lead you to sites and projects of specific geographic regions and specific disciplines such as underwater and marine archeology. There are pages which can lead you to reference material, academic departments, libraries, museums, publications, organizations, and other endeavors. Archeology grows as a science and continues to add new disciplines to its roster, such as urban archeology and geo-archeology.

In essence, "human past" covers a very wide spectrum of time. In fact, some futurists describe science fiction as the archeology of the future.

Please enjoy.

The Spy Business
By: Tylor Tobias

Espionage is the secret gathering of information about a rival, but very often the spying is done on friendly or neutral countries as well. There is also a type of intelligence gathering called industrial espionage: the stealing of trade secrets from one company by another in order to profit by the information.

Not all espionage is a secret, furtive activity with the romance and thrills of a "Brett Baird" novel. Much intelligence work is a slow, painstaking, and tedious business engaged in by the employees of international intelligence agencies such as UNATCO and the NSF. The agencies receive masses of information about a given country from fairly accessible sources such as publications, scientific and business conferences, public meetings, and industrial expositions.

To get less accessible information is in part the work of professional spies who, by various means, steal government and industrial secrets and arrange for illegal purchases of sophisticated technology. Some of these spies are citizens of the nations on which they spy.

Computers are used to sift and evaluate intelligence information. Spy satellites and high-flying aircraft relay data back to Earth by electronic signals and advanced aerial photography. Seismographs can record underground nuclear testing. Eavesdropping devices can listen to private telephone conversations, and miniature cameras can photograph numerous data.

In this book you will find many truths about spies. You will have a chance to go back in history and read about famous people who spent theirs lives lurking in the shadows. Also, many shocking accounts of how todays business' and governments can look into your life without you even knowing they are there.

Mind Control

The most important aspect of the brainwashing process is the interrogation. The other pressures are designed primarily to help the interrogator achieve his goals. The following states are created systematically within the individual. These may vary in order, but all are necessary to the brainwashing process:

            1. A feeling of helplessness in attempting to deal with the impersonal machinery of control.

            2. An initial reaction of "surprise."

            3. A feeling of uncertainty about what is required of him.

            4. A developing feeling of dependence upon the interrogator .

            5. A sense of doubt and loss of objectivity.

            6. Feelings of guilt.

            7. A questioning attitude toward his own value-system.

            8. A feeling of potential "breakdown," i.e., that he might go crazy.

            9. A need to defend his acquired principles.

           10. A final sense of "belonging" (identification).

A feeling of helplessness in the face of the impersonal machinery of control is carefully engendered within the prisoner. The individual who receives the preliminary treatment described above not only begins to feel like an "animal" but also feels that nothing can be done about it. No one pays any personal attention to him. His complaints fall on deaf ears. His loss of communication, if he has been isolated, creates a feeling that he has been "forgotten."

Irene's eyes are still closed but she is awake. She hasn't opened them yet because there is so much more to still enjoy with her other senses. The smell of the Pacific is just light enough to give her that constant reminder that she is there. The sound of water rushing past the ship is so soothing and steady that it is like a lullaby and is the last thing she remembers before she fell asleep last night. The rocking on the waves keeps Irene in a relaxed peaceful state like a mother does to her infant in a carriage. After a few minutes of enjoying this bliss, Irene opens her eyes slowly and stretches her arms above her head. She thinks to herself, "You haven't slept this good in years it feels. Just you and the ocean. No kids, no publisher's and no press. Yes, you definitely needed this vacation."

JOURNAL

April 6 - Another day of torment. Seems the past few weeks my mind has been in turmoil. I am not the man I think I am. Last night I dreamt of having two sons. It seemed so real but yet how could that be? Was it a dream? I must find answers for my confusion.

Security Concerns Move Code

The code to the basement has been moved upstairs. We will move the code from time to time for security measures.

****EMAILS***

Employee

Lately we have recieved an increase of inspections from Government Agencies. In order for us to continue our progress we must undergo these inspections. All of this is necessary so we may get a grant from a major contributor so that we may continue our work at Weaponry Securists. Hopefully this will ease the talk and the confusion amongst everyone.

JKaplan

Miss Kaplan,

For security reasons we will be changing the password to gain admittance. No one can be allowed to go past the reception area unless they provide you with the new password. If anyone gives you any problems, call security immediatly.

The new password to gain access to the facility is "Mr. Spector"

CGreene

Hey Chuck,

I managed to get my hands on some tickets for Friday nights game. I was wondering if you wanted to come along. Game time is 7 p.m. I figure we can go have a bite to eat and then head to the stadium. This is going to be one hell of a game!!

Let me know if you can make it.

ERuiz

Mr. Ruiz,

It has been brought to our attention that you have been giving some of the employees a hard time regarding the progress of their work. We understand that you can not get your work done without the information they supply you with but making an uncomfortable environment with your co-workers will not move things along faster. Some of them are newer employees and need your expertise and guidance not criticism. Please be patient and try to work with them as a team.

ESkibinski

Mr Skibinski,

We here at Weaponry Securists understand that individuals get sick from time to time but we can't afford to have someone away too often. We have deadlines and goals here. Many employees rely on each others work before they can complete their own. We have noticed the excessive absences that you have had lately and would like to bring it to your attention. We must warn you that if this keeps up we will have to terminate your position here at our company.

AConner

Alice,

I need more test samples sent to me in the lower lab as soon as possible. Michael Denton and I will be conducting some tests and need more samples. Also send down a few viles of the HGK40 and VXT25. Call security at once so that they can send someone to get the material.

JColeman

James,

With all the recent inspections we have had and the upgrade of security, please use discretion with tests and experiments. Especially any finds on the bones must be kept totally confidential. That information can only be passed to me. Until we find a level of calm in this facility we have to keep some things very low key. Any new findings should be reported to me immeadiately.

TBrinkman

Thadeaus,

Lately I have felt a lot of pressure from correcting and rechecking some of your work. I am at a loss because I know your a great researcher yet lately you have been forgetful in some of your projects. You and I have worked together for as long as I can remember and I felt a bit of a concern. Are you having some problems you need to talk about? I know the other day you told me you were having what seemed to be memory lapses. Are you still having them? Do you have any idea what is causing it? What's going on Thad?

MDenton

Mr Denton,

We want to express our appreciation for all the hard work you have been putting in. We know lately the work load has seemed endless but we assure you that in a few weeks all that should ease up a bit.

Also, a reminder that all personel will be required to take their monthly vaccine on April 10th. It is imperative that everyone get their vaccination. We have so many tests being conducted and keeping our employees safe and healthy is a great concern.

MDenton

Michael,

Once you have read this message destroy it. Make sure that you do not allow the company to give you the vaccine on April 10th. I can not explain to you now as to why. Also, concealing my identity at this time is best. Please don't question this just do everything in your power to somehow get past the vaccination. You will thank me for this information later. I know it's not much but you have to trust this letter to be true. It's for your own safety and in the end it will answer a lot of your questions I am sure are going on in your mind already.
